World Day Against Trafficking in Persons:

ASHA NGO observes the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons every year to raise awareness about the dangers of human trafficking and to promote the protection of vulnerable children, adolescents, and communities. The observance serves as an important platform to educate people about trafficking risks, safe migration practices, and the rights of survivors.

Through awareness campaigns, community meetings, rallies, discussions, cultural programmes, and engagement with youth groups, ASHA encourages collective action to prevent trafficking and exploitation. The programme also highlights the importance of community vigilance, gender equality, child protection, and coordinated efforts among stakeholders to combat human trafficking.

By marking this day annually, ASHA reaffirms its commitment to creating safe, informed, and empowered communities where every individual can live with dignity, freedom, and security.

International Day of the Girl Child:

ASHA NGO observes the International Day of the Girl Child every year to celebrate the achievements, potential, and rights of girls while raising awareness about the challenges they continue to face. The observance provides an opportunity to promote gender equality, education, health, safety, leadership, and empowerment of adolescent girls.

Through awareness programmes, interactive sessions, cultural activities, discussions, and community engagement initiatives, ASHA encourages girls to voice their aspirations and strengthens their confidence to become active participants in society. The programme also engages parents, community members, and local stakeholders to create a supportive environment where girls can thrive and reach their full potential.

By commemorating this day, ASHA reaffirms its commitment to ensuring that every girl enjoys equal opportunities, protection from discrimination and violence, and the chance to build a bright and dignified future.

World Day Against Child Labour

ASHA NGO observes the World Day Against Child Labour every year on 12 June to raise awareness about the harmful effects of child labour and to advocate for every child’s right to education, protection, and a safe childhood. The observance highlights the importance of collective action to eliminate child labour and ensure that children can grow, learn, and develop in a supportive environment.

Through awareness campaigns, community meetings, school-based activities, rallies, and discussions with parents and stakeholders, ASHA promotes child rights and encourages communities to identify and prevent child labour practices. The programme also emphasizes the role of education, social protection, and community vigilance in safeguarding children from exploitation.

By observing this day, ASHA reaffirms its commitment to creating child-friendly communities where every child is protected, empowered, and provided with opportunities to realize their full potential.

Foundation Day – 17 September:

ASHA NGO celebrates its Foundation Day on 17 September every year, marking its journey of dedicated service and commitment to the empowerment of vulnerable communities since its establishment in 2007. The occasion provides an opportunity to reflect on the organization’s achievements, recognize the contributions of its stakeholders, and reaffirm its mission of promoting social justice, equity, and sustainable development.

Over the years, ASHA has made significant contributions in the areas of child protection, women’s empowerment, education, health, livelihood development, anti-trafficking initiatives, climate resilience, and community development. Since its inception, the organization has reached 142,098 people across targeted villages in 10 blocks along the Indo–Bangladesh border, positively impacting the lives of children, women, adolescents, and marginalized families through community-centred and rights-based interventions.

ASHA has also had the privilege of partnering with several prestigious national and international donor agencies, including German Doctors e.V., Germany; Kindernothilfe, Germany; Welthungerhilfe, Germany; the British Deputy High Commission, Kolkata; The Aangan Trust, Mumbai; BMZ – Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development), Germany; and Azim Premji Philanthropic Initiatives. These partnerships have enabled the organization to expand its reach and deepen its impact in underserved communities.

The Foundation Day celebration brings together community members, beneficiaries, staff, volunteers, partners, and well-wishers to share experiences, celebrate milestones, and acknowledge the collective efforts that have shaped ASHA’s growth and achievements since 2007. The event serves as a reminder of the organization’s continuing commitment to building inclusive, resilient, and empowered communities.
